About Shame by Skyler Mason

She was raised in a culture that places a high importance on both virtue and the appearance of virtue. On campus, everyone refers to him as the “bad boy.” After he uses her for retaliation by taking her virginity, she ends up winning his heart and becoming his wife.

In order for Carter to carry out his scheme of vengeance, he will need a pawn, and Vanessa is the ideal candidate for the role. The young woman who has just recently announced on social media that she would no longer be a virgin in thirty days is an ideal candidate for the man to use in order to shame his affluent religious family.

A straightforward exchange of services will make up the totality of their business arrangement. If she will simply tell the college athlete that he took her virginity, he will finally be able to take advantage of the opportunity he has been waiting for.

However after having her, he wants more than just vengeance.

He is not content with merely having her love at this point.

He is solely concerned with achieving his own objectives.

About the Author

Skyler enjoys reading romance novels the most out of any other genre. Her works feature powerful female protagonists who, on occasion, bring their male counterparts to tears—but always on the grounds that they have earned it. If there is no tension in a romantic relationship, then why bother having it?

Book Summary

In this story, we follow Vanessa, who was raised in a culture that values chastity. Even though this is the second book in the series, I haven’t read the previous one, so I can confidently say that it can be read on its own without having to start with the first book. She is not ashamed to acknowledge that she would like to lose her virginity. She has a large number of followers on tiktok, and she recently made an announcement that she has a time limit to ‘do it.’ Vanessa was a fearless female main character who never held back what she thought. She was grounded in reality and truthful. She was able to read people’s intents as well as their body language and understood how others operated.

Carter. The bad boy of the campus That has a LOT of experience being intimately involved in sexual activity. He was reluctant to talk about the things that happened in the past. He was kind of what gave me a slow burn feeling about this situation. In spite of the fact that he grew up with a trust fund, he has the largest heart. Regardless of the standing he has in the community. He exemplifies everything that a golden retriever should be.
He is the one to fall first and very hard. He follows her on the internet and gushes about her from afar, but when they finally meet, he is underwhelmed. It’s almost as though the ground itself is moving. It’s as if these sensations appeared out of nowhere, and he has no idea how to deal with them because he doesn’t recognise them.

We get a lot of “youre mine,” desire, cravings, and infatuation, and the physical intimacy was great. It was fascinating to follow the progression of these characters as the story progressed. Both on their own and in conjunction. They are a balm to one another. They were such a wonderful couple.

I had the impression that this would be a more darker story, but it wasn’t. Despite this, I don’t feel let down because I gained a lot from the experience. I had no idea there was such a thing as a purity culture; obviously, I’m familiar with the concept of’saving oneself,’ but this goes into further depth on the topic. And the feelings it provokes in people, both towards themselves and towards other people. There were times when I completely forgot how old they were, but there were other occasions when it was painfully clear. It was very entertaining, and as a result, I would be interested in reading more works written by Skylar Mason.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time because of the quick romance that developed between Carter and Vanessa. I found myself biting my nails out of nervousness and constantly crying into my pillow. I found the sincerity of their connection to be incredibly endearing, as well as the poignant moments that they spent together. I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw how Vanessa, with her humour and candour, was able to bring Carter to his knees. It is not evident why these two are complementary to each other considering the fact that they are so dissimilar to one another, but they are. This story was just incredible. It never failed to be entertaining, easy to relate to, and interesting throughout its entirety. Following this, I can’t wait to get my hands on the next chapter in the series!

Critics

After having such a positive experience with the first book in this series, the second one did not live up to my expectations at all. The love interest was manipulative, and although he did apologise for it in the end, it did not reedem him in my eyes. Despite this, I continued to feel bad about him. This novel contains a significant amount of enabling behaviour, and I did not enjoy it one bit.
