The new guy next door is a total jerk. A stoic, tattooed, towering jerk. I made an effort to be kind by baking cupcakes for him and his gorgeous daughter, but his stone-cold reception left me with no choice but to thrust those pink cupcakes into his hulking chest.
My week was dreadful.
It was difficult enough to return to Seattle after being away for years for the distribution of my father’s will. My dad gave me a surprise the size of a football stadium, and I changed my mind about staying.
True, it’s true. He bequeathed a football squad to me.
That’s how I ended up in a meeting room with the veteran quarterback who refuses to speak to the team’s new owner. The quarterback, huh? This is my neighbour, the moody, tattooed big guy.
He is now ubiquitous. with his daughter next door. At conferences. The topic of away games is off-limits for now.
I can’t get Luke Pierson out of my system, and I’m beginning to wonder if that’s a good thing.
About The Author Karla Sorensen
The Ward Sisters, Washington Wolves, Bachelors of the Ridge, and Three Little Words series written by Karla Sorensen are among the top ten best-selling book series on Amazon. She does a psychological analysis of her family by watching football (both American and British), HGTV, and listening to Enneagram podcasts. After receiving a degree in advertising and public relations from Grand Valley State University, she went on to work in senior health care after completing her education. Bear is a large, hairy rescue dog that lives in Michigan with Karla, her husband, and their two boys, in addition to Bear.
The Bombshell Effect Book Summary
I’m very glad I decided to give Karla Sorensen’s work a try with this novel. Many of you are aware that I have been experiencing book funks with alarming regularity as of late. And escaping is no easy task. That was possible because The Bombshell Effect provided a unique spin on the cliches of sports romance and enemies-to-lovers.
I was hooked on the book within the first few chapters.
Allie Sutton and Luke Pierson first met under conditions that immediately cast them in opposing camps. Their daily interactions became more and more exciting as the tension and sexual attraction between them grew. Both were responsible people who could set aside their differences for the greater good, up until the point where it was no longer an option.
The heat was palpable when they gave in to their desires. I felt a physical tremor and had to fight the want to sigh. Allie and Luke completely captivated me. Their relationship faced challenges, but they persevered, and my affection for them grew as a result.
I liked that they were on an even keel and that they were able to be themselves in one other’s company. No expectations or ulterior motives were present. Allie and Luke were just two free adults trying to get what they wanted. Wow, they actually pulled it off.
There was so much more that I like about the story, though.
There were many secondary characters besides the main pair who deserved to be the focus of their own novel, and the author has indicated that this is likely to happen. In all honesty, I can’t wait to see where this group of characters goes next. This book resonated with me because of the author’s excellent plotting, characterization, and dialogue. I started The Bombshell Effect after work one night and had to force myself to put it down at midnight; otherwise, I would have read till 4 in the morning on a workday, which hasn’t occurred in AGES!!
I’m eagerly awaiting the author’s next book and plan to read some of her older works in the meantime. The quality of the author’s work cannot be denied.
