I devoured this book in one sitting. Books like this cause you to hold fictional male characters to an unrealistically high standard.

Someone like Piper is easy to write off since she is portrayed as an airhead who enjoys the finer things in life but also uses them as a smokescreen. She hid behind social media. Not that she has to be aware of it right away. However, comfort was found in such mode of living.
She is taken back to the little town where her father grew up after a traumatic event, and she finds herself completely out of place there.

In remembrance of their late father, and as a means of processing painful memories and moving forward with their lives, Piper and Hannah have decided to reopen this pub. However, Piper comes to terms with her own complexity and the fact that she has let her social media presence dictate her life. I loved that she realised this on her own terms when she realised that the surface level wasn’t satisfying her anymore.
She eventually meets a man who fucking gets her. He can see right through the mask she’s been wearing for far too long, and it’s beautiful to see her defences give way.
