Anyone who knows me or has been following my work for any length of time knows that I have a soft spot in my heart for Japanese translated fiction, particularly works that are deeply emotional. Even though I was given an arc to review, I will definitely be purchasing a copy once it is complete.
In What You Are Looking For Is In The Library, five very diverse library users, each with their own worry or problem, tell their stories. Each character finds their own unique path to success with the help of the slightly supernatural librarian’s out-of-the-ordinary book selections.
This is a novel on the transformative power of literature and the importance of having a good friend. Above all, though, it demonstrates that it’s never too late to make a positive change.
In the same vein as Before the Coffee Gets Cold and The Travelling Cat Chronicles, this book is beautifully written and full of metaphor, sentiment, and whimsy.
