About The Author Jethro Kloss
The individual in question has gained significant recognition and popularity mostly due to his highly successful publication on herbal remedies, which has achieved remarkable sales figures. Jethro Kloss, a prominent figure in the history of American soyfoods, had a significant role as an early innovator in this field.
In 1935, residing in Takoma Park, Washington, D.C., subsequent to an extensive period of scholarly inquiry and literary endeavours, Kloss released the initial iteration of his seminal work, subsequently recognised as his magnum opus, entitled Back to Eden. In 1939, an extensively rewritten and expanded edition of the publication was released. The aforementioned version had a significant surge in popularity throughout the latter part of the 1960s and had achieved a remarkable sales figure of about 3 million copies by the year 1986. In his exposition, the individual presented his approach to achieving natural self-healing through the utilisation of herbal remedies, a dietary regimen devoid of meat, dairy, and eggs, and the cultivation of a lifestyle that aligns with the principles of health and nature.
He expressed his disapproval towards the consumption of sugar, spices, pepper, mustard, vinegar, and fermented foods. The author advocated for the inclusion of soy milk in various therapeutic diets and saw it as a superior alternative to cow’s milk. Kloss made a significant contribution to the field of soyfoods with the development of over 50 innovative American-style soyfoods recipes featured in his work, Back to Eden. The aforementioned items encompassed soy milk and tofu, along with various dairy-like derivatives derived from them, such as cream cheese, cheese, soy and nut cheese, soy milk cottage cheese and cottage cheese loaf, soy buttermilk, whipped soy milk cream infused with oil, soy milk ice cream (the second recipe of its kind in America), and soy butter produced from soy flour.
The assortment of recipes encompassed various dishes such as canned soybeans, soybean coffee, soy sprouts, sprouts with rice, okara and brown rice patties, soy loaf, soy milk aspic or jelly, mock egg yolks, soy milk and okara pancakes, soy milk gravy, soy oil mayonnaise, soy milk pumpkin pie, whole wheat breads incorporating soy flour and okara, soy and wheat spaghetti, as well as numerous soups utilising soy milk. Kloss referred to soybeans as “The King of Legumes.” Furthermore, the author incorporated a four-page statement extracted from Dr. J.A. Lectures publication from the United States Department of Agriculture in September 1936. In this statement, Dr. Leclerc asserts that “The soybean is poised to bring about a transformative shift in the trajectory of human civilization.”
Back To Eden Book Summary
I found this book to be enjoyable. I perceived the endeavour as highly valuable and deserving of the exertion required to complete it. Nevertheless, in order to fully maximise the benefits derived from Kloss’ book, it is imperative to procure a copy that was published during his lifetime. The modifications present in this text are highly objectionable. The inclusion of certain beliefs, such as opposition to vaccinations, inside his teachings has been attributed to the actions of editors, his children, or other individuals, in an attempt to create the perception that he endorsed such ideas. Certain phenomena are readily apparent, whereas others may lack clarity or transparency. I intend to buy an antiquated version for personal acquisition.
