This particular self-help book is specifically tailored to assist those without professional training in effectively addressing and managing uncomfortable trigger points through the application of massage techniques. Trigger point treatment is a bodywork approach that has gained significant attention and popularity due to its interesting nature and rapid growth on a global scale. Medical doctors, chiropractors, and practitioners of alternative health modalities are increasingly adopting this technique as a means to alleviate the pain experienced by patients afflicted with undiagnosable soft tissue pain. Research indicates that this condition accounts for around 25 percent of all medical consultations.
The methodology entails the utilisation of a delicate and broad stroke to stimulate specific spots, which are localised in either muscle or connective tissue, where an inadequate supply of oxygen results in the occurrence of swelling. The aforementioned locations can be readily identified by anyone with a general understanding and are known to induce pain in many regions of the body, following consistent patterns specific to each muscle. Consequently, this discomfort can manifest in a spectrum ranging from mild to intense. The application of stimulation to the specific location elicits a subsequent elevation in the oxygen concentration within the surrounding region, frequently resulting in immediate alleviation.
The initial release of The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook has exerted a notable impact on the adoption and application of this dynamic therapeutic methodology. This document represents a significant upgrade of the widely recognised and popular resource, incorporating comprehensive updates tailored exclusively for individuals in the field of massage therapy. It encompasses a thorough exploration of progressive muscle relaxation techniques, which serve to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of trigger point therapy.
About The Author Clair Davies
Clair Davies, who is no longer living, held the designation of NCTMB (Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork) and possessed expertise in the field of trigger point massage therapy for pain management. Mr Davies developed a keen interest in the field of massage therapy after effectively employing trigger point massage to alleviate symptoms associated with a frozen shoulder condition.
Motivated by the encounter, he commenced a rigorous independent investigation of trigger sites and their associated phenomenon of transferred pain. Following his retirement from a prosperous piano servicing enterprise, he made the decision to enrol at the Utah College of Massage Therapy in order to pursue formal training as a certified massage therapist. Mr. Davies, based in Lexington, Kentucky, embarked on extended travels alongside his daughter Amber, whereby they conducted continuing education programmes for professionals focused on trigger point massage. In 2006, Clair Davies passed away in the comfort of his own residence due to complications arising from colon cancer.
Amber Davies is a licenced massage therapist and a certified myofascial trigger point therapist who lives in Louisville, Kentucky. After a six-year battle with chronic low back pain, which she fought alongside her father, Clair, the individual became fascinated with trigger point therapy in the mid-1990s. Ms. Davies is a doctor, lecturer, and writer who is dedicated to bringing myofascial pain treatment to the forefront of conventional medicine. Ms. Davies provides instruction in continuing education for professional therapists as well as self-treatment techniques for individuals experiencing pain. The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook Book Summary
This is a great book full of practical advice on how to use trigger points to alleviate many kinds of discomfort. I decided to get it to alleviate my headaches and ongoing suffering. Even though not everything I tried helped me, I think it’s important to explore your options when conventional treatment offers little more than narcotics for your discomfort. Furthermore, there is a possibility that it may provide assistance to you.
If this book helps you, you should definitely buy it instead of borrowing it from the library for three weeks because that’s not nearly enough time to read it cover to cover and retain all the information it contains. It would likely help to refer back to certain procedures as well.
The only criticism I have is that there aren’t nearly as many examples in the book as there are in other similar works. You should probably take that into account if you’re a visual learner. There are visuals, but they don’t become overly distracting like they do in many other self-help books.
