Craving in His Blood Book Summary
My fave writer of science fiction romance is Zoey Draven. The alien universe and the love stories in each book are perfectly balanced. It was the same with this one. I appreciated that our MC, Millie, was not naive to their way of life culturally. Since her father was half Kylorr, she has spent her entire childhood exploring the galaxy with him. My sense of immersion increased as we were shown more of the globe from a more macro viewpoint.
The personalities were really interesting to me. They kept me entertained and were fantastic to follow as MCs. The only downer was that I couldn’t help but feel distant from them as a pair. Maybe it was because I had just finished rereading the novel with Gemma and Azur, or maybe it was because the protagonists of this book gave in to their desires too early, but I couldn’t connect with them the way I did with the previous book’s relationship. Nonetheless, there were tender passages, hot spots, and parts that broke my heart to read. Even though I wasn’t as immersed in the main characters as I would have liked to be, I still thoroughly enjoyed the novel. The narrative of her father’s life was just as tragic.
The series’ overarching plot, which was introduced in the first book and will likely continue across the others, has also begun to expand. As someone who enjoys stories most when they centre on the main characters, I appreciate how this substantial plot is presented in manageable chunks that don’t detract from the romance.
