About Emotional Intelligence Book
The author of the book, Daniel Goleman, asserts that a person's EQ is more important to their achievement in life than their IQ is at any given point in time. People who were emotionally stable had an advantage in areas such as leadership, mental health, and productivity at work. These are all areas in which emotionally stable people tend to excel. According to Goleman, high levels of EI (Emotional Intelligence) are just as important, if not more so, than technical competence and intelligence. He argued this point in his book. Students could acquire the knowledge in school, then put it to use after graduation to become dependable employees and potential future leaders. Additionally, the author offered some recommendations as to how EQ may be covered in academic settings. Many people disagree with Daniel Goleman's theory of emotional intelligence, arguing that it oversimplifies the idea of intelligence by reducing it to a collection of personality traits. One of the main reasons for this disagreement is that Goleman's theory is based on his own research.
The book has an impact, regardless of how one feels about the concept it explores. The book remained on the New York Times best-seller list for approximately a year and a half after its first publication.
About the Author

His work as a scientific correspondent for the New York Times garnered him two nominations for the Pulitzer Prize as well as the American Psychological Association's Lifetime Achievement Award in Media Writing. It appears that he is still making his home in the state of Massachusetts.
Reader's Review
- Valid observations on human sentiment. A fantastic book that may be put into practise immediately to affect positive change in one's own life.
- I finally have a firm grasp on the importance of mental and emotional states in shaping behaviour and outcomes. Absolutely essential reading for anybody in the world.
- This book has helped me understand not only my own personality but also the personalities of other people and how their experiences have influenced them over time. In a nutshell, it has taught me to have more compassion and less scorn for other people's choices in how they think, feel, and act. The only criticism I have is that, while it's enlightening to realise that our personalities and the way we treat others may not be our fault (or anyone else's), the book doesn't really provide any concrete advice that can be applied by ourselves to help self-improve, and the only advice to help with others, mainly children, is from what we c You won't be able to help your kids (or yourself) develop emotional IQ because no one has taken the time to compile the research into a coherent whole.
Critics
I wanted to improve my emotional intelligence (EI) at work so I could move up the corporate ladder. However, the majority of the information in this book pertains to the actions of infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents, and how our early experiences impact the ways we act as adults. Having a better grasp of the factors that contribute to someone's level of extroversion, introversion, aggression, passivity, or agreement helped, but the course didn't provide me with any actionable takeaways. An intriguing read that, in my opinion, went on for a little too long (it was largely repetitive) and wasn't, ultimately, satisfying.
