Alessia looks at her spouse with drooping eyelids.
You’ll have to put up a fight for him. Her thought keeps going back to the phone call she had with her mother this morning. She wants to win this fight. She uses every tool at her disposal.
She feels passionate about him. She’s aware of it. The woman is pining for him.
And she really needs his desire.
When the glass slipper finally fits, what happens then?
Earl Maxim Trevelyan of Trevethick has travelled to Albania in search of the woman he loves, despite his reservations about doing so. He has to marry her at the barrel of a shotgun after fighting for and capturing her.
But will Maxim’s notoriety as a reformed rake and the scandalous secrets of his aristocratic family be enough to derail his newfound happiness?
Can Alessia Demachi make it as a married woman after she has outwitted and battled kidnappers and traffickers to win the heart of the man she loves? Will she ever be seen as Maxim’s countess, or will she always be seen as his former cleaner, in the face of his scandalous background, his forbidding family, and the looks and murmurs of London’s elite?
The Missus is a mesmerising journey of love, longing, acceptance, and redemption that takes place in breathtaking settings all over the world, from the beautiful mountains of Albania to the pastoral idyll of the English countryside to the dark splendour of contemporary London.

The Missus Book Summary
The Missus hooks you right away and continues from where The Mister left off, with Maxim and Alessia getting ready for their shotgun wedding in Albania. In The Mister, Maxim’s daily, another word for a maid, Alessia, enters into a passionate relationship with him.
After marrying Maxim, a Lord, Alessia will have to make substantial changes to her lifestyle to accommodate his. As Alessia adjusts to her new role as Lady Trevethick, she must also confront some of his personal demons from his past. She also had to deal with his mother’s disapproval and her ex-sister-in-law’s inability to let go.
My favourite part of The Missus was seeing how Alessia and Maxim overcame their differences to become a united front. But there were times when I wished Alessia would speak up and let Maxim know how she really felt about something.
Alessia’s efforts to rescue Bleriana and the other exploited girls could have gotten greater attention, in my opinion. Even though it was referenced once more in the Epilogue, I really wish we’d seen more of Alessia’s efforts.
The musical scenes in The Missus were another highlight for me. The fact that Alessia has synesthesia continues to fascinate me. In other words, the ability to link auditory and visual stimuli (chromesthesia).
In comparison to The Mister, I preferred The Missus. It was a satisfying conclusion to the love tale between Alessia and Maxim and a fun read overall.
