Jeanie is the most taken aback by her aunt’s unexpected bequest of the cosy Pumpkin Spice Café. Especially considering that her aunt is still among the living and, at the moment, is probably at a tanning salon. Jeanie had the option to decline. To be sure, the old Jeanie would have. But now she’s set on being the cheery proprietor of the lone coffee shop in town. The town rumour mill does not normally interest Logan. He actively tries to avoid it. He only wants to get back to the farm he helps run with his grandparents so he can tend to the crops. Strange noises can be heard, items are being moved around, and lights are flickering. Also, Jeanie might use Logan’s assistance. Unfortunately for him, Logan cannot stop thinking about the lovely new girl who is unlikely to stick around. The Pumpkin Spice Cafe is a warm and fuzzy romantic mystery with a small-town atmosphere and an assured happily-ever-after.

About The Author Laurie Gilmore

Small-town romance is Laurie Gilmore’s speciality. Her Dream Harbour series has charming small-town characters, idyllic locations, and heartwarming love stories. As a reader and aspiring author, she is always on the lookout for stories with just the right amount of sugar and spice. Her books are for anyone who has ever wished they lived in Stars Hollow or for Luke and Lorelai to finally get together.

The Pumpkin Spice Café Book Summary

This warm and fuzzy autumn romance is perfect for all you Gilmore Girls fans out there. Jeanie, a newcomer and the new proprietor of the local coffee shop, and Logan, a farmer and town hero, are the main characters in The Pumpkin Spice Cafe. Although Logan and Jeanie are complete opposites and initially irritate each other, they eventually give in to their mutual passion. Exploring this desire quickly becomes a complicated web of poignant, hilarious, hot, and vulnerable feelings for both people involved due to their individual emotional baggage.

There were a lot of minor characters, yet they all felt distinct and well-rounded. The town meeting scenes were hilarious and crazy, just like the ones in Gilmore Girls, and they perfectly captured the spirit of life in Dream Harbour.

The fact that Jeanie and Logan went from total strangers to hooking up a little too rapidly for what had been established about their characters was the only reason I didn’t give The Pumpkin Spice Cafe 5 stars. It would have been more believable if Jeanie and Logan had spent a little more time as not-quite enemies before getting together, given that they both began the story with a strong conviction to keep away from each other. The reader’s anticipation and excitement over their eventual reunion would have been amplified if this had been done.

Besides that minor issue, though, the book was fantastic. It was charming, humorous, sexy, emotional, atmospheric (making me miss autumn even more than usual), and loving.

In exchange for an honest review, I’d like to thank NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, and One More Chapter for providing me with an advanced reader’s copy.
