Now in her eighties and living in seclusion, Hollywood legend Evelyn Hugo has decided to reveal her storied past. But nobody is more astonished than the obscure magazine reporter Monique Grant when she hires her. And why precisely she? Then why now?

The world has not exactly crumbled around Monique. Her husband has abandoned her, and she is unable to advance in her career. Monique is determined to take this opportunity to launch her career, regardless of why Evelyn chose her to write her biography.

Monique is invited to Evelyn’s lavish flat, where she listens in awe as the actress relates her life tale. From her arrival in Hollywood in the ’50s through her departure from the business in the ’80s (including the seven spouses she went through), Evelyn tells a story of unrelenting ambition, surprising friendship, and a great forbidden love. As Evelyn’s story draws to a close, it becomes evident that her life crosses with Monique’s in terrible and irreparable ways, and Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the iconic star.

Introduction

Hollywood lore and the ’60s Evelyn Hugo, a member of the It crowd, has now revealed that she would auction off 12 of her most iconic dresses via Christie’s to benefit breast cancer research. Hugo, at 79 years old, has always represented sophistication and style. Hugo’s most iconic outfits are regarded classics in the canons of both fashion and Hollywood history for their ability to be both seductive and understated.

Hugo history enthusiasts will find both the dresses and the events in which they were worn fascinating. Hugo’s Oscar-winning outfits from both nights of the ceremony, including the emerald green Miranda La Conda she wore to the 1959 ceremony, the violet soufflĂ© and organdy scoopneck she wore to the 1962 premiere of Anna Karenina, and the navy blue silk Michael Maddax she wore to the 1982 ceremony to accept her award for All for Us, will be available for purchase.

Hugo has been through her fair share of Hollywood scandals, including seven marriages, one of which lasted for decades and included film mogul Harry Cameron. The daughter of the two Hollywood heavy hitters, Connor Cameron, is undoubtedly the driving force behind the sale. After reaching 41, Ms. Cameron tragically lost her battle with breast cancer last year.

Hugo was born Evelyn Elena Herrera in 1938 to Cuban immigrants in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen. By 1955, she had moved to Hollywood, bleached her hair, and became known as Evelyn Hugo. Hugo rose to the top of the Hollywood food chain almost overnight. More than 30 years later, she retired and married financier Robert Jamison, the elder brother of three-time Oscar winner actress Celia St. James, after which she stepped out of the limelight. Hugo, just bereaved from her seventh husband, is a Manhattan resident. Hugo has always captivated audiences throughout the globe due to his stunning good looks, glitzy persona, and bold sensuality. Over $2 million might be obtained at this auction.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo Book Summary

I was overjoyed when my “skip-the-line” Libby audio copy became available before the print version because I’d been meaning to listen to it for a while but never found the time. So I started listening, and soon I was caught up in the narrative. The voice actors did a fantastic job. Taylor Jenkins Reid has done it again!

The account of the life of the fictional Hollywood legend Evelyn Hugo was fascinating to me. After seven marriages and a scandal-filled life, Evelyn is eager to put the record straight as she tells her story to a reporter. As the story progresses, she tells us about her many marriages and eventually identifies the one she truly loved.

The composition exhibits a commendable level of craftsmanship, incorporating unforeseen plot developments and narrative intricacies. In summary, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. While this particular book by TJR may not be my personal preference, it still provides a sufficient level of enjoyment.
