This is a psychological thriller about a love that could kill you. This is the definitive edition of Too Late, by the author of the number one book in the New York Times, Verity.
Sloan will do anything for the people she cares about. And she does it constantly, every day. Sloan has discovered a way out of her predicament thanks to the charismatic drug trafficker Asa Jackson, but doing so has required her to compromise her values. Before she met Asa, she was in a bind trying to provide for her sick brother. He became emotionally and financially dependent on Sloan, and she became increasingly vulnerable to his obsessive behaviour because of it.
Sloan is taken aback by his instant attraction to undercover DEA agent Carter, despite knowing that Asa will kill him if he lets on that he is seeing Carter. Even in his relationship with Sloan, Asa has always been one step ahead of her. He has never had an obstacle.
Nobody besides Carter.
Before it’s too late, Sloan and Carter need to figure out how to get out of here.
About The Author Colleen Hoover
The #1 best-selling author of romance, YA, thriller, women’s fiction, and magical romance in the New York Times.
I don’t like being stuck in one type of writing. If you put me in a box, I’ll get out by any means necessary.
Too Late Book Summary
Colleen Hoover did her thing, and here we are with a free book thanks to wattpad. Reading it on that site is a bit of a hassle because I couldn’t figure out how to highlight anything, but I really enjoyed the discussion that ensued. In any case, CoHo + gratis = a near-certain victor.
Sloan, a student, has an unfavourable relationship with Asa, a local drug dealer, and is at the centre of the plot. Therein lies the rub: she also becomes romantically linked with another college student, Carter.
The sexual content that CoHo included took me by surprise. That much passion from her was completely unexpected, but it was very welcome. It’s not incredibly detailed, but it’s still a big step up from what we usually see.
There’s a lot of tension in the plot that I can’t reveal here without giving anything away. The “plot twist” and the reference to six centimetres were both brilliant. The peculiar word and sentence play was my favourite part. Whence does CoHo draw such inspiration?
I’m pleased I didn’t give up and kept waiting for all the epilogues to be written. We can only hope that this is the final chapter; nevertheless, with CoHo, everything is possible.
